The state forester Schoorl is a wonderful walking area, here are the highest and widest dunes in the Netherlands. The three large climbing dunes are very popular especially among children. Otherwise, the area consists of coniferous forest, sand dunes, various types of heath, and birch brooms. The strange Tannenorchis grows here in abundance. You can hear here the garden warbler, the nightingale, the golden oriole and the black woodpecker.
